SKINCARE QUERY NO.3
"I AM 18, CAN YOU SUGGEST ME A GOOD SKINCARE ROUTINE?"
Once you strike 18, you start to embrace your beauty and find ways to elevate or enhance your look. But you are afraid to try things, not knowing whether it’ll harm your look. So finding the most suitable skincare products can be a tough one on the first try because your skin is new to skincare and it is basically in the primary stage of experimenting with skincare. Once your skin starts to understand your skincare then it will be as easy as galloping an ice cream. So let’s stop worrying and dive into our next query and find the perfect skincare routine for you, who is just 18!
At 18, it's all about keeping things simple and focusing on the basics. Let’s not make your routine a complex one, Here's a three-step routine that will work wonders for your skin rather than an elaborated 10-step routine.
1. Cleanse
If you read Query No.2 by now you know cleansing is the first of any skincare routine. Start your day and end your day by cleansing your face with a gentle cleanser suited to your skin type. This will remove dirt, oil, and impurities, keeping your skin fresh and clean. Before starting off with any other skincare product having a clean face is more than important, IT IS A MUST!
2. Moisturize
We have always heard this, STAY HYDRATED! Especially with the Sri Lankan humid and hot bright sun, if you do not hydrate your skin you will obviously experience so many skin irritations and complications. Hydration is key, even for young skin. Use a lightweight, non-comedogenic moisturizer to keep your skin hydrated without clogging pores. This will help maintain your skin's natural balance and prevent dryness.
3. Protect
Just as much as keeping your skin clean and hydrated is important, protecting your skin is too. Always use sunscreen during the day, even if you're indoors. This will protect your skin from the sun's harmful rays and prevent premature aging. SUNSCREEN is EVERYTHING, just believe me when I say, IT IS EVERYTHING!
In addition to this simple routine, pay attention to the little things that can make a big difference.
1. Stay Hydrated
Your skin needs hydration. Not merely externally, but internally as well. Even if you maintain a proper skincare routine, what you take to your body is important to maintain the outer look. So, Drink plenty of water to keep your skin hydrated from the inside out.
2. Change Pillowcases
Cleanliness is not at all a one-time thing, it should be a forever thing. Regularly change your pillowcases to prevent oil and dirt buildup that can lead to breakouts. It can do miracles to your skin.
3. Remove Makeup Before Bed
Always remove all makeup before going to bed to allow your skin to breathe and regenerate overnight.
4. Get Enough Sleep
This can be the hardest. For me, it is the. The absolute hardest thing to do. But by now you can understand that good skincare is not only applying good products onto your skin, you need to have a healthy lifestyle as well. Aim for 7-9 hours of sleep each night to allow your skin to repair and rejuvenate.
Remember, skincare is all about experimentation, finding what works best for you, and consistency. Start with these basics and adjust your routine as needed based on your skin's response. And most importantly, have fun with it! Your skincare routine should be a form of self-care and a way to pamper yourself.
"KEEP IT SIMPLE, STAY HYDRATED, AND PAY ATTENTION TO THE TINY THINGS. YOUR SKIN WILL THANK YOU FOR IT!"
